How DICCU Works
In each college there is a Christian Union (CU) group, which is part of the DICCU. They meet to pray together and gather weekly to encourage each other by studying the Bible, praying, singing praise to God, etc. They organise various events throughout the year, to share the great news of Jesus with their college friends.
All the CU's from across the university also come together as a whole to run larger scale events for the whole university, including our yearly "Main Event" that lasts for about 10 days in the Epiphany term. During this we really step up the pace and work at a level that we wouldn't be able to sustain physically, emotionally or spiritually throughout the year. It's a very exciting time! This is framed by the now famous Christmas Carol Service and the Easter Celebration Service, both in Durham Cathedral.
For details of our regular events, see the Events page.
The CU is part of the national CU movement, The Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship, which provides staff and resources to help students in Christian Unions all over the UK. Furthermore, UCCF is in turn part of the worldwide organisation, The International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, which operates in over 150 countries.
The DICCU is also dependent on support from local churches and works in partnership with other ministries that share its core values, such as Christians in Sport.
